      Alum fuel line bender ??

I'm probably going to need a tube bender for my fuel system. Sizes are 1/2 and maybe 5/8 for return .035 thickness. I found this one online at Harbor Freight. Looks like it should do the job. Won't be doing a lot of bends. Anyone have any thoughts on this bender or any others ??? I figure since I can bench mount it makes it easier. It can also bend smaller tubing.

I've never had any need to bend 5/8 aluminum, but 1/2 aluminum isn't a problem even for a hand held bender. Steel, maybe, but not aluminum.

I have a 5/8" feed line on my car. It was the hardest thing to find a decent bender that would do the bends I needed. Most benders do 1/2" or less. I ended up finding a spring type bender at home depot that is pretty awesome.

The one I found in the store was a 4 piece with the 5/8" being the largest and was less than $20.00.

Speedway motors will have the flange tool to do the AN fittings. Most other places only go to 1/2" as well.

      Good Luck!

Ok I'll expose my ignoance now. Just how do those spring benders work??? I've seen them on other sites. But I don't get how to use them.

Way easy. Even I could use it and it came out great.

The tube goes inside the spring, and then you bend to fit, as you go. The Spring diameter doesn't change as you make the bend (if it does, it's negligible) so you can make 100* plus bends without messing up the tube. I was having issues of crushing the tube with a 5/8" bender, not saying they are bad, its more lack of experience on my end with them. Bending and installing the fuel line took me less than 2 hours start to finish and it looks great. I really can't say anything bad about the spring type bender....

Ok that makes sense. I also did a you tube search and found a video of someone bending a tube useing these springs. Looks pretty simple. Will probably pick up a small piece to test my skills out on first.
