      Mating 6.2 to 4l80

Im trying to figure out what I need or don't need to bolt my drivetrain together. I've got a 6.2 with a stock bottom end and a 4l80. What do I need to make this work. Can I use a flywheelto from an lq4/lq9 and call it a day? Or will I still need the spacer?

Did you already purchase a torque converter? When I ordered mine, i just specified what i had and the converter came ready to bolt in with the correct spacing.

Ive already purchased my converter with intentions of building up an lq9. I found a deal I couldn't pass up on the 6.2 but now I've heard there are differences in the actual snout of the crank.

Would the 6.2 and the lq9 crank be the same?

If you still have the flexplate that came with your 6.2 it would be for a 6l80/90e and that needs to be changed as well. Here are the GM part numbers for what you need to get the 4l80e to mate up.

      Spacer - 12563532
      Bolts - 19257940
      Flexplate - 12621399

Don't forget the 6 bolts for the flexplate to converter if you don't have those as well. ARP has those cheaper and stronger then the GM bolts, I would double check that these work with your converter though from the place you purchased it. These ARP bolts work with a factory converter...

Also be sure to check around on this number Flexplate - 12621399 That number was a "kit" which included the spacer and the bolts but GM just changed it a few months ago. If you are able to find a dealer that has this on the shelf with the bolts and spacer it will be cheaper then having to buy everything separately. I got lucky when I got mine the local GM truck dealer had one on the shelf that still had everything included. He said he didn't even realize he had this on their shelf and the amount of dust on the box proved it!

FatFree has you on the right track! Just need the flywheel with the spacer and your good to go. I didnt check the part number above , but it would be the same as....just for example.... 2004 2500HD pickup with LQ4/4L80E
