After living with the red valve covers for a season, they just weren't my style. I bought a set of GMPP "Chevrolet" valve covers, which I really like the style of. The only issue with them is that they do not have a screw in oil cap, but they do have a push in breather which I can pull and use that as the filler hole. Of course the hole in the valve covers was slightly smaller than the push in K&N breather I wanted to use.

Just jam the thing in and see what happens...$20 mistake.
I ended up boring out the valve cover hole with a step drill bit. Here they are installed:
