Which stock car LS2 throttle body?

I have about come to the conclusion that I will need an LS2 throttle body to work with the GMMP LS2 controller kit I have, instead of the LS3 throttle body I put on the motor. I have LS3 heads & intake & the Vette accessories & injector covers. Is there a particular throttle body I should stay away from, or one in particular I should look for? I need a drive by wire one & preferably not one that will choke it down, bigger the better right?

I used a 90mm LS7 TB has a silver blade with my LS3 intake. You need any of the 90mm silver blade throttle bodies. (not a gold blade like the new camaros/vettes have) I think the switch to the gold blade happened in 2009... Basically the gold blade opens opposite of the older silver style.

      So you could run
      LS2
      LS7
      Early LS3 from a 2008 corvette... (I think)

I think all the LS2 throttle bodies are the same - good luck finding one for a decent price though. I shopped for several weeks before finding a good used one at a decent price. Hopefully you'll get lucky!

There not. There is a truck version and at least two versions for cars. One for the vettes with a gold plated throttle plate and the other for gto's. The vette tb is supposed to be the best of the bunch.

Sorry - whenever I think LS2 I always forget they were offered in Trailblazers, etc. I have a GTO one on my engine build to match my e40 ECM.

Wouldn't the gold blade one be the same as the gold blade LS3 one I have? If so, can't use it, would be the same situation.

Have you called GMPP to determine what year TB you need to work with the controller? What year is the TB you have and how did you come to the conclusion it won't work?

Call GMPP? No, didn't know I could just call them. Not sure what year the one is I have, It's from an LS3 & is gold blade. I have spoke to a couple of tuners, both say won't work, Norris was one, & the other was Ed (?), from Virginia Beach area.

Here is my list of vehicles that you can use the TB's from as they are all the same.

      2005-2008 Corvette - Can be LS2, LS3 or LS7

      2005-2006 GTO

      2008-2009 G8

On the G8 side, I mention the 2009's as I have had 4 come thru my shop that have had the older 05-08 TB on them.

These are all the "car style" TB's as I call them that have the aluminum cast housing for the electronics. The "truck style" 90mm TB's have the flat plastic electronics housing.

      Hope that helps.

Scot, I have one from a 2005 GTO. Came on the engine I used in the Elky. 11,000 mile engine. Got the whole topend. heads, intake, TB, cam, etc. I also don't know what the value would be but I would trust whatever Mike Norris says is fair. Tis your's if you need it.

Maybe he will chime in again, or if you come up with something, let me know, along with pics please.

It is pretty much in new condition. I'll be in the shop in the AM and I'll pull it out and take a pic. Give Mike a call and ask him for a fair price. He would know. I'm easy. If you got it and were not happy I'd take it back.

Tomorrow's Christmas eve, don't make a special trip to do it tomorrow, I'm in no hurry for it, it can wait a few days.
      Thanks,

Ah, was thinking "shop" as in your business & you had to drive to it.

What's the "Elky" you are working on?

Nah, I'm retired. The Elky is the one in my avatar that I beat on all year. It is getting a Tick master upgrade and I'm starting my complete "go over" to be sure it will be ready for the drive and flog it will get at the Run to the Alamo in Feb. Here are pics of the TB. Like I said, it has 11,000 street miles. Should be perfect. Mike
