Wanted: Camaro or Firebird tilt column, through 1978 (or earlier)

I'm looking for a used tilt column from a floor shift car, from a camaro or firebird, up until 1978. In 79 they changed the bottom of the column, so I need 78 and earlier. It can be scratched, wobbly and just plain rough. Looking for inexpensive, hopefully in the double digits.

if your still looking for a column, I have had one in my garage for 15 years. you can call me and tell me to help verify what it is but I was told it's for a 69 Camaro. I can take a few pix with my phone if that helps too.

tilt, blk, key in the ignition

Yep, still need one. Does yours have a collar on the bottom that is spot / tack welded in place?

I just emailed pictures of the column...if you need further shots just ask. I have a lot of other 67-72 parts laying around so if you need anything else, feel free to email me a list.

      Happy New Year...Jeff

Jeff, thank you for the pictures. I noticed there was a hole in the side, near the key. Was that for an automatic shifter?

I also have a tilt column from a 75 or 76 T/A that I'm not going to use if you're still looking. Mostly there but missing the plastic end on the tilt lever.

I had to look at the picture that I sent. If it's the picture I saw the extra hole is for the turn signal or the tilt lever...it's missing one of them, can remember which one. let me know if you need any other pictures to help clarify it for both of us.

Jeff, I did some looking back at the articles I found, and I need a 70-78 Camaro column. Not sure what the differences are, but they stated that the earlier models wouldn't work for my type of swap.

Kevin, thanks for the pictures. What are the wires hanging out of the top, were those from the horn? Also, is there a top collar that isn't shown?

      Hi -
Yep, I was wondering if that would be clear or not. They're part of the cruise switch built into the turn signal stalk. The Trans Ams had a horn inside the center collar with the electrical contacts. I emailed you more pictures to, hopefully, clarify.

I'm a bit unclear what you mean about the top collar. If you mean the collar that the factory formula steering wheel bolted to, yes, I have that and it'll be included. See the email for those pics too. The exploded views that I can find in my 1970 factory manuals show a plastic cover plate with three screws but I'm not sure if GM included it for the T/A columns with the formula wheel. If they did, I no longer have that piece.

      Kevin
