      Info on a California car

Hey guys. I am a newbie here. Been heavy into drag racing for many years. Just wanting to go pro touring now.
I am looking for a 69 Camaro with updated suspension, braking and drive train.

On to the meat of this post, I stumbled across this one and the guy has no history on it.

Anyone know anything about this one?

It's local to me, and I've never seen it before. Are you close enough to go and have a look at it?

It needs a longer upper radiator hose.

I am in Texas. I am contemplating head west to get a look at it. I was hoping someone may have some info on it before I hopped on a plane.

And yes, the upper radiator hose needs to addressed.

I'll swing by and take a look at it, it is less than five minutes out of my way.

Cool, thank you sir. It looks nice in pictures, just want to make sure it is what they say.
they claim no rust and all factory panels.

Well Randy, I just went down the street and looked at the car. First off, the radiator hose looks worse in person. Sorry.

It isn't a bad car, but it isn't an amazing car. It has some good parts, i.e. engine and transmission. It has tubular upper (and I think lower, can't remember now) control arms on the stock subframe, along with coilovers on the front. In the back it has a G-link or G-bar, or whatever you want to call it, not a three link. The interior is nice, it isn't perfect, but for a car with a 53K asking price, it is definitely nice.

As for the paint, it looks pretty decent, but it would be the deal breaker for me. There are a couple spots that show questionable prep. There are a few little pin hole dots. One area, like the edge of the decklid, had some paint runs, and orange peel. On the driver side quarter panel where the sheetmetal curves up to the sail panel part of the roof, there is a bubble. Yep, a bubble. it is a couple inches behind the quarter window, and sits on the flat part of the car's "hip." At some point someone might have thrown a partial quarter on it. The dead giveaway on the aftermarket quarters is "roundness" of the edges. I forgot to take that into consideration from looking at the car, but when I think back, I remember that it looks like some body work was done around that jam. There was a chip on the inside of the door and it was pretty plain that the car has been given a few coats of paint. It isn't a frame off restoration, which is a shame because from looking into the side of the cowl when the door is open, it is obvious the car was taken completely apart. It just wasn't stripped down to bare metal. What you are left with then, is a car with what is really pretty nice paint, that you know won't last forever. It might last quite some time, who knows.

This is one of those cars that you know has more than 50K into it, and you can't build a car like it for 50k. Personally, I would look to spend another 10K and hope to get a deal on a car that had a higher original build cost, and pictures of the build along the way. There are a ton of cars out there that you know people have to be selling at a loss. I would look for one of those. Knowing the seller, I have a feeling this car has been to Barrett Jackson, or will go, maybe both. At a place like Barrett Jackson, it could go for 65K since it will look nice under the lights and has some nice parts.

      Hey Matt,

Thanks for the information on the car. This kind of confirms my gut feel for the car. I had asked for some other detailed pictures and haven't seen them yet. Also the lack of information on the car leads me away from it.

PM me your address, I would like to send you a Chrismas card for your troubles.

Again, thanks for taking the time to look at the car...
