600 steering gear - internal stops?

Has anyone ever had one of these apart? I have the Delphi unit that DSE sells. Long story short I would like to use an internal stop as opposed to the "factory" external setup on my car. The external setup is relatively weak but works fine with manual steering.....power steering just bends the stop right over.

So is this something that can be changed?

Great question Donny! Although we have the 800 series box I would like to keep from destroying tires at full lock. You should become an expert so we can lean on you for advice.
