      2nd gen rear end upgrade

      Guys,

I currently have a mildly built Pontiac 400 with an open 10 bolt in the rear. What vehicles have 12 bolts that have the needed width for a second gen? I'm going to go with the 4 link setup up from ridetech, so I'll have to do some fab work regardless to make this work, so the width is my main concern.

      Thanks in advance, Nick

1970 Camaro/Firebird 12-bolt is the right size. Alternately the 68-72 A-body 12-bolt is the right width as well. For a cheaper alternative, you could use the 71-81 F-body 8.5 10-bolt, it is strong enough for your application and readily available in salvage yards, 12-bolts are getting harder to find and cost a good bit more.

stock 8.5" 10 bolt can be built to take a pile of power.

That being said, I'll go after a 79 trans am rear then. Thanks for your input guys.
