      gas pedal removal/install

OK, so I am replacing the stock pedal with a Lokar and I am stumped as to how in the world to get the 2 screws out. It looks like there are 2 screws that go from the engine compartment into the bracket through the firewall. I can't get to them from any angle (top, bottom, side, etc.). Can someone enlighten me?

What kind of car is this? Need some intel...
All I can tell you is every car I have ever stripped or parted out has had the pedal asm bolted in from the inside... Take a look under the dash and let us know what you find.

Assuming this is the same as the Camaro, you are going to need to remove the wiper assembly in order to get enough access to the plate holding the pedal assembly to the firewall. You'll also need to remove the C-Clip in order to get the inside part of the assembly off before removing the bolts.

Chevy High Performance has an article on the process that may be some help:

      Hope this helps...good luck!

So the wiper unit is the key, thanks. I've got the DSE selecta-speed in there too, so it takes up a bit of room.

Turns out that the wiper motor wasn't really in the way. The valve cover was the trick. That gave me just enough room to squeeze a wrench down there. No sockets would fit though, just a ratcheting wrench. Turns out that my pedal was so wiggly because the piece that holds it in is plastic and it had broken in 2. Only 1 screw was holding it in, and not doing a good job at that. The Lokar unit fits very well and is super tight now. It feels like I have instant throttle response now (which it would since the throttle actually moves now when I step on it instead of everything bending and moving around). THe only other thing to note was that I had to cut off the top portion of the carpet/firewall protector thing. The Lokar pedal pivot wouldn't fit without doing that.

      Another option

I'm hoping not to be a thread jacker or a product whore here, but here is another option that you could have considered, maybe an easier install as well. I'm not going to bad mouth another manufacture, or sit here and tell you which one you should go with. Everyone has their opinions and tastes, and I respect both.....it just an opportunity to show members of another choice.

You sure that wasn't your intention??

Besides, I wanted a cable setup not a rod setup. Cables are much more versatile, allowing custom routing around boosters, wipers, valve covers, etc. No rod setup will do that. Pretty hard to beat Lokar in this dept.

      LOL..

no not my intention, like I was stating just another option. I get the cable pros and not bashing it by any means, nor the Lokar name or any other name for that matter. If the cable set up works better for your needs then good, but for anyone else reading the thread, this may be something they look at.

Just wanted to show another bolt in option...sorry if it was the wrong place and time. Maybe if I wasnt a rep, it may been seen in a different light? But have seen other members do the same thing in the past with a " thanks but the part I went with works better for what Im trying to accomplish"

Not being butt hurt, just stating what Ive seen and experinced in the past.

Sorry if I sounded like a jerk. I just think product ads should stay in the vendor forums. No biggie.

      NO,

you are right, and that huge Firewheel ad is the only pic of the stock pedal I have right now....trust me its obnoxious as hell. If I could have posted some simple looking pics, maybe it would have left a different impression. no worries what so ever, it isn't a biggie at all.

      Thanks Bob
