Its odd, I never really cared for the AMX...it always looked "wrong" to my eyes....but this car, even with the body just sitting over the frame like this....you can see it looks "right"!!!
Fantastic work......I really think you're onto something special here!

Glad that there is some AMC protouring going on, a rare sight to see to say the least. Best thread i've seen so far in my opinion, but i'm a bit biased as i'm an amc owner :P. The car looks freaking amazing with those 335's, and you've given me some ideas for my 71 javelin :D i'd even venture to say your in inspiration

Cheers, and keep up the good work!

The chassis I built myself, the last time I checked a decked out Morrison chassis was around 20K, the cage I haven't got the bill on yet. Its funny there was a chain of events which had me working 14 hr days for a month straight, right at the time DC Performance had a scheduling window, I jumped at it, and am so glad I did, probably moved the project 2 months ahead of schedule. After this weekend its back home, and the metal work starts, thank goodness I'm back to a normal 8 hr day at work, and can get 10 hrs. or so a week of wrenching time.

Any info/pictures would be great. Thanks, Ron BTW Thank You for all of you build pictures between both the Mustang and the AMX. You have inspired me to get out in the garage and start learning how to fab all the ideas in my head! Truly inspirational!!

The football came from Fays2, its about $100, the design is pretty straight forward. Put the fins on the Dana cover to allow the football to be adjusted above and below axle center line. This stuff truely isn't rocket science, if you check out some of the chassis design books.

      Hey Ron,
      love the project!

Think someone might have mentioned that perhaps 335 is a HUGE tire, maybe won't heat up etc.... Project Xecution (66 mustang) runs 335 MT DOT and they seem to be happy with them so..... only sucks you all are raising the bar so high for the rest of us

Big Red runs 335s all round if i'm not mistaken, seems to work pretty well for road racing and still badass 20 some odd years later. This amx should be killer!

Got the body back on, and the engine and trans in it for mock up, I think I will have to go with the shorter torque arm, just too busy with that magnum 6 speed. Trying to deside what I'm going to do for power, my buddy Frank is trying to talk me into twin turbos, it really would be cool, but would add alot of weight.

dont you overcome weight with horsepower?

what about smaller twins, rear mounted to equal out the weight gain some?

Cool but driving it will be a handful because they come on so violently bud.... I'd be inclined to weigh that decision very carefully if you plan to auto-cross this car.....

Man, this is an awesome build, but that front turning radius looks like it wouldnt turn around in a 40 acre feild. Is that the best you can get with those gigantic tires on the front?

      Ron,
When you were building the mustang, i caught your thread right at the start and would check it daily.
I'm glad to have another thread to obess over. This car is so cool, I can't wait to see it at motor state.
Now don't take this the wrong way, but without the front end and with those huge front tires...

It just looks that way in the pics, the turning radius is exactly the same as a C6 Corvette, and what I like is even at full lock that the tires don't rub anywhere.
