Good Guys Del Mar Thanksgiving weekend

Usually I would be out of town, but thankfully this year I will be local and will be attending this event. Brett from Fab 53 (Tow Hook guy) and I will be meeting up at my place early Friday morning to head down to the Auto Cross. If anyone would like to join us in our slow paced 85mph trip down the coast to Del Mar from the OC, let me know. We can go slower if necessary---well, I can, Brett--not so much.

Hoping to see some of you out there for the event. Will be curious to see what overall attendence is going to be like at this one since it is a true holiday weekend that is a pretty hard core family time for most.

I've got the new Magnum T56 in my ride, but am still rockin it one legged jihad style (Team OLJ) or, One Wheel Squeal as Rupp calls it.

Dude, yes of course---and, I have the T400 tailshaft packed in the car to hand off to you. Just remind me it's there when you come over so you actually go home with it.

We had our families thanksgiving dinner yesterday because a lot of us had work or other obligations in my wife's family. We're going up there today to see if anyone is still there, (Sunday).

If anyone is interested in meeting up or if you have your car and a booth or space there then let me know, (619)761-7740.

Sometimes Chad from Bangshift posts 'em up on various sites but they are usually on the Good Guys forum site within a few days. Was a great event and I think this year's autocross topped it for spectators. They were packed six deep against the fences.

The course was not the standard "peanut" we've grown to love and I got lots of 1-2-1 (repeat as necessary) shifting practice.

I wish I had the results. I am recording a podcast in 30 min and I sure could use them. Does anyone have at least some basic results? Who won each category?

Mary Won Street Machine (on the last run of the day), Bret (ridetech) Won vendor, The ridetech equipped truck beat out the Hotchkis trucks by a couple tenths, and I know the car, but I forget the name of the Street Rod winner.

Does anyone have pictures of the ride tech equipped truck?

What car was competing with Mary in the street machine class?

Mark Rife's '63 Corvette had it in the bag until the Shootout. With that LS7, Kumho-shod, lightweight car, he was blazingly fast both days. Good Guys had the top three in each class take two final runs before shutting off the official timed laps at 3:30 on Saturday. Mark was leading with 50.4 and I had 50.8 so had to go faster than his best time to win Street Machine. I ended up with 50.2 and Mark unfortunately didn't improve on that 50.4. Last run and had to make it count. Coming through the last turn and headed to the Finish, I knew the run was good but didn't know if it was enough ...

Very tough course, too. No "peanut" this time but three pin-turns and I had to shift between gears (either up or down) eight times which really sucked. Mark could stay in first gear and didn't get to practice this like I did. After two days of about a million shifts, I got pretty good at it. Somewhere I read that each time you shift, it takes .2 seconds to do so.

Can't remember the Truck or Street Rod winner's names but Bret Voelkel from ridetech won Vendor.
