      Rotor wont go back on!!

      Ok,

So the outer wheel bearing on my 68 camaro was obliterated.. I took the rotor off and the inner wheel bearing was stuck to the spindle but still in very good shape.. I used a gear puller to remove it and it came off fairly easy.. Then I took the rotor removed the races and installed new races and new bearings (inner and outer) and a new grease seal. I cleaned and inspected the spindle and it looked fine BUT now I am trying to put the rotor back onto the spindle and it will NOT slide all the way onto the spindle!!

My question is how EASY should it slide on? I am assuming it should not be pressed on but I dont want to force it on either.. Is it time for a new spindle or do I need to emery cloth it down? Literally sitting with dirty hands here so anyone that can answer this for me as quickly as possible would be appreciated.

BTW Matched up the size of the inner wheel bearing to the old one and it is the same..

      Thanks
      Mark

Are you sure the inner bearing race is seated all the way?

Pull the bearing back out of the rotor to see if it will slide all the way on the spindle. If not use, a file and or emery cloth to get it to.

You probably have some burrs on the spindle , that are preventing the inner bearing from going on .

Also , check to make sure you are putting the rotor/hub exactly straight on .
If you have the inner bearing in place , and are sliding the rotor/hub onto the spindle ( without the guidance of the outer bearing in place ) , the rotor/hub will tilt a little sideways and not want to go on all the way .
It will hang up on the dust shield flange .

I am betting you have a burr on the spindle where the outer bearing rides. That is usually the spot that needs love after a bearing goes bad.

could be a burr on the spindle, or it could be that the bearing is machined too small... i've seen that before with the "economy" bearings..
