      Schroth auto control

Has anyone used these before? I just came across them and them and thought they would be great in a mostly street sometimes autocross car but maybe i am not seeing the whole picture.

Those are a great idea. It would be nice to be able to adjust your rear view mirror or scratch your shin without having to unbuckle. Wonder how accurate they are.

The harder part for many of us would be to find a way to mount the reel section. Unless the back seat is non-functional there's no good place to mount it.

Good point Carl. I thought the concept was cool and forgot to think.

Carl could you possibly fix the title for me? That way it will turn up in a future search.

What would you like it changed to?

They could be mounted like the late-60's GT Mustangs where the belt mounted on the top of the hoop, but back-seater beware.

      Gents,

just researched Schroth and Corbeau, Although Schroth seems to be the better product, I went with Corbeau well because I got them for 75.00....lol. New they sell for 105.00 each. Ive already mock mounted them to the rear package tray using 15x3 1.4 thick steel plates. They seem to work great. As far as the back seat goes, you simply hit the buckle button on the retracktable portion, it rollls back up in the package tray, and use your lap belts. So basically with rear passengers, your back to stock style lap belting, which is rare and few anyway....so really Im pretty happy with option so far. If not I can always up grade or take them out easy enough, Ill post some pics..maybe tomorrow.

      Alright here are some pics,

please keep in mind this is mearly a mock up, under the rear tray is not done. I used the small factory indents n the tray to counter sink the bolts, this will allow the pakage tray cover to hide the bolts. For now I have 15x3 by 1.4 steel plates, I thought about going with a single piece the intire span, but the tray area seems to have a slight contour that might work with one piece of steel all the way across. So I used two.

Again, you can just un latch the harness and use the lap belts with rear passengers.....this is going to work well with this project...once its finished.

      Thanks Bob

I've run the four point system on multiple cars since 2009 and they are consider a standard part of all my builds now... In 2nd early gen F-bodies I use Sparco 505's and Schroth belts almost exclusively now,,, great setup for what we do and I like that they are DOT approved...

Im surprised more people dont take this route, it SEEMS to make more sense for the common PT builder, best of both worlds.
