RS grill installation in a non-RS 1969 Camaro

I've decided to install an RS grill in my non-RS 1969 Camaro, but don't want to damage the paint. DSE advised me that I'll need to install "Fender Conversion Adapter Brackets," and the installation normally involves a weld, which will damage the paint. They suggested that an automotive adhesive might work. Anyone have specific experience installing RS grill into an already-painted non-RS car? Alternatively, does anyone have experience with automotive adhesives in this type of application? I'd appreciate any experience or advice you have.

Did you end up performing the swap? I have a 67 and want to replace the standard grill assembly with an aftermarket RS set up. Did you buy an aftermarket one?

Automotive Panel adhesives work fantastic for what you want to do. As with anything Paint & body related, the sucess of the job is directly related to proper preperation.

I would go for doing a good weld on it for fear of future damage due to the vibration. You should be able to hide any welds behind the grill area so it shouldn't affect any exposed paint.
