is there a company that makes a tranny adaptor for an fe block ford to mate up to a modern tranny?

Yes there is. Contact Bowler Transmissions in Lawrenceville, IL. They developed one for a 4R70W trans with Roush I believe. Mark Bowler is very good to work with too.
