Ouch...though it seemed to take that hit pretty well.

Classic inside wall crash. It's amazing how many crashes occur to the inside!

After conquering the open roads, my interests reverted back to the road courses. At a track event in 2005 I made an unfortunate mistake of missing my turn-in point entering turn 14 at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA, and eventually hit the tire barrier at the entrance to pit lane at a very high rate of speed. I was ok, however the car was badly damaged. Three buddies, two of whom were experienced dirt trackers, banged and hacked on the car all night and had me back on track the very next day turning lap times within one second of the prior day’s best times! Significant thanks go to “Mark and Marko”, Mark DeShetler and Mark Zanella for their persistence, encouragement and hard work. The car wasn’t as beautiful as before, but she still performed well.
Looks like a hard hit. The above I found in this link.

Yep, I always wash out to whatever side has the better run off, lol. Its sometimes better to have a predictable slide/ run off, than an unpredictable attempted save.

Carl did that to himself many years ago coming out of 15 at Thunderhill. After that Wreck he went to a complete fiberglass front end which is still on the car today.

That car is still very fast and about 2 or 3 months ago ran sub 2 minute lap times with Dave Brown behind the wheel at Thunderhill.
