      Thanks, I think.

The times I have called the cam companies they have read the catalog to me. I'm hoping that someone could offer some real world advice.

Also the shelf grinds in the catalogs represent a small fraction of the available lobes, especially in the case of Comp cams. They have lobes for the BBC that are not represented in the catalog.

I have had really good luck with Crower Hyd-Roller cams in general.
While a 540 can swallow a lot of cam, we also want to not have the revs go too high as the piston speed is pretty wild.

For a combo like this I would be looking at something along the lines of the Crower 253HR260
      253/260@050
      .636/.659 lift
now here is the tricky part, we are going to spread the love seperation to 114 deg to help keep the EFI happy (minimizing idle overlap).

This should make peak power somewhere in the mid to high 5000's with a redline around 6400RPM (hyd roller lifter pump up around 6200 anyways).

Here's a second vote for Cam Motion. Have your head flow numbers ready to provide when you call.

Call Lunati and ask for Harold. He's forgot more about grinding cams than most people will ever know. Harold's an icon in the camshaft industry and will take the time to help you choose the right grind.
Also, there's a lot of discussion going on over at Team Chevelle about camming a 540. Good stuff and Harold is right in the middle of it.
