Pre announcement, First Annual Turkey Tour!

After the success of the Tour in the Hills, I asked Larry if Prodigy Customs could host the

      First Annual Pro-Touring.Com Turkey Tour

at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run Nov 25 / 26 this year.

I do not have all the details yet, but I have left a message with the Turkey Run operators to firm up parking passes as a group. I will be going in the next few days to identify a cruise and dinner spot.

Basically it will go like this. Meet early Friday morning to go into the speedway together for parking. I feel like a lot of participants may travel Friday and only do Saturday, so Saturday will be the official meeting, but parking and passes will be available Friday for early birds. Mnay of us will end up at Belair Plaza, but it will not be the official meeting Friday night.

Saturday we will meet early somewhere for breakfast and go to the Speedway, park together in the speedway, and do our own thing through the day at the show. Later in the day / evening we will meet again somewhere and cruise to dinner, possibly in Flagler county through Tamoka (sp) Park. It is gorgeous in there. Once there we can eat, drink and be merry, then back to Belair Plaza and park or cruise the strip. Cruising at the Rod Run is solid until midnight or so.

Many of you already do the Turkey Run, for those that are not familiar, the Turkey Run is held Thanksgiving weekend, in the Daytona Speedway infield. 5000+ cars enter the NON JUDGED show. There is a awesome swap meet, the best in the south, and my favorite part is the cruising at night on A1A. A1A is the road that runs along Daytona Beach. Cars are parked mostly in one area called Belair Plaza, but also all along the strip where many also sit in chairs waiting for the next cool ride to pass. It really is cool as there are constant hoots and hollers.

I have been doing shows, runs and cruises for many years, and The Turkey Run is the best for the quantity / quality of cars and spectators, and still being able to actually cruise without total gridlock.

What I need now is a show of hands from yes I will be there's, and maybes so I can get an idea of how many spots to lock up. The Turkey Tour WILL NOT be limited to Pro Tour cars only, but will be limited to active Pro-Touring.Com members with or without their Pro Touring rides.

I will put the details together as they develop.

mods, I know this belongs in non racing events, but right now it needs the proper coverage in Open discussion

As we discussed, I'm there with my 69 and Tim (not a board member, YET) will be there with his 67 fastback 'Stang. The Turkey Run is already fun, this will make it a don't-miss-it-under-any-circumstances event!

Thanks for getting this together Frank and Lisa.

You know I will be there, may even have an extra car if a certain shop can get through with a certain Pontiac (J/K)!
Of course Raymond and many of the Middle Ga. Cruisers will want to join in so I will get a head count of just how many that will be.One thought, maybe we could get a spot next to them or even divide a large one with them, to keep everyone together. I will talk to the contact person there and get back with you later today.

For anyone who has not been Turkey run is one of the best shows in the country and is is held at the Speedway in Daytona during the day. Then everyone ends up on A1A at night. It started out a street rod event, but now everybody who is anybody is there. I know most do the family thing at Thanksgiving, but for the last 14 years now, that is my family. Much more fun than visiting with family you really did not want to see anyway.

Wow. That's a helluva turnout. Unfortunately, I'm usually at a trade show in Syracuse, NY that weekend.

Hmm.. Syracuse in November? or Daytona in November? Tuff call.

      Frank,

I love the idea, a car show within a car show. Dates are following a holiday. Good idea. Its starting to get chilly in MI right around that time of year. Will this event be any where near your facility were we can take a tour?

What other family functions are there at this time of year? My wife is a school teacher. I will go to the car show, she will end up sight seeing until her feet swell. Just a thing she has to do.

Orlando attractions are only 1 hr from the track. If she cannot find something there, I don't know what to tell ya, LOL!
There is a little craft show in the car show, but I would not plan on that being enough to satisfy her. For what it is worth, if the women folk crowd is similar to this last crowd, early thirty's to late forty's moms and G moms, they all got along fantastic and were happy just making fun of the men. In fact by the end of the day I think every women on the property made a pass down the track in something. The Prowler got a real workout for a while all the girls tried it.
Prodigy Customs is about 45 minutes from the track and anyone is always welcome, but the turkey run is a real pilgrimage for us and we will be in Daytona most of the week. you are welcome to come by if you come early or stay after the show.

I'll be there for sure, pending the wife's approval of course. I've never been to the Turkey Run but have been wanting to go for years. Now I have a really good excuse!

Raymond, Pro Street is fine. Basically we want it to be a low carb diet of muscle, in other words, NO RICE! If you are a Pro Touring enthusiast and a active board member, you are welcome.
If anyone has no car yet, fine, we will find a someone you can ride with.
