How much room do I need for fuse box?

Just wondering how much room do I need around my Highway 22 fuse box? I'm thinking of putting it my console so it won't have a bunch of air around it. Just worried about it heating up too much.

The glove box area is an even better place. You will find that the wires will more than likely not be long enough for most curcuits and will be routed in ways to get to your console that you might not like.

Think it through very carefully before you put it in your console.

That's where I was originally going to put it, but it's so crammed in there with the Gen IV a/c unit, computer and fusebox. I'm going to play around with the placement in the glovebox again and if that doesn't work, I may look at putting it in the console. It's a custom console that I'm building out of round bar and would add some channels along the side of it to run the wires through and to keep them away from everything else. I don't mind having to lengthen my wires if I end up putting it in there.

Here is some advice based on my last build.

      1) Put it in a location that is easy for you to work around. Meaning, you need to be able to get not only to fuses, but also to circuit terminations, bundles, etc.

      2) Before you decide where to put it, draft out all your circuits. You need to think about circuits with multiple termination points. Think about bus bars, about how you ground, etc.

Personally I don't think I'd be crazy about it in the console but I guess anything could work. The Highway 22 box is quite a bit larger than the highway 15 box I have. To be honest, I'd rather have had a highway 22, but space limited me. I knew that up front when I designed the system and placement.

      3) If possible, allow for some slack to allow you to "move" or "displace" the fuse box to work on things.
