I'll be back in about 5 days......Irene keeping me away

Just guessing 5 days without power. So all in Irene's path, stay safe. It's hitting us tomorrow.

So far they have downgraded what will hit central Jersey twice.

On a far more ridiculous note, NYC airports are already closing and the airlines are already finding new and interesting ways to rip people off. Good thing my tax dollars have kept them afloat for long enough to totally vulture off of people's needs when a storm is coming. ::flipoff::

We're just now staring to see the breeze picking up and the rainbands are showing on the radar at the edge of town....It is humid as all get out, kind of misty and the tree tops are starting to sway some. You guys on the coast..keep your heads down

Who has reports from the storm?

Here in central NJ we are expecting the worst of it to be here soon. I just finished the 3am check at all points and so far we are in good shape. basement dry, attic (really it's the chimney) only shows signs of slightly weeping, yard is draining away from the house, power is still on, beer is cold, and reheated vodka rig is delicious.

      How's everyone else making out?

We are fine here in eastern VA. We are close to Newport News / Norfolk area. If it wasn't all over the news that it was a hurricane, I would have thought it was a good summer storm. Weird, lots of rain with no lightning or thunder, I put a 5 gallon bucket out on the deck about 11 am yesterday and it is about 3/4 full. It started raining around 3am. We lost power last night around 9:30 and it is still out.

Sounds like you didn't make out too bad after all.

We got the rain here but it didn't seem like the wind ever showed up. Ground is saturated so the basement is weeping slightly more than earlier but nothing that throwing down the old flood towels won't keep under control while I take a nap.
