      What is an LT5?

I didnt know where to ask my question
so I thought I would post it here

does anyone have a LT5 stuffed in there car??
I was told its Chevys Hemi engine
and it gets over looked and most people go with the LS engines

The LT5 doesn't so much get over looked as it does avoided. They are pretty rare, and VERY expensive.

Nor is it Chevy's Hemi. I never saw a Hemi with DOHC and 32 valves, at least in a production car.

They only came in '90-'95 Corvette ZR-1s. The ZR-1 package almost doubled the cost of a base Corvette.

Yep, the ZR1 engine, it's slightly bigger than a Big Block Chevy. Cool looking and makes pretty good power for only 350 cid. They do have a unique sound to them, I would love to have a ZR1 with that motor.

Lotus designed, Mercury marine built 32V DOHC beast. They sound far more exotic than an LS, and make power higher in the rev range as is standard with most OHC motors.

I like to think it's the reason ls engines still have pushrods....

As stated rare, expensive, and parts are relatively hard to come by....That said they are pretty badass and a lot of the "crate engines ended up in street rods, not the kind that drive though, the kind that ride around in a trailer.....Too bad.

Here's one that gets (well, got, by my father) driven.

They didn't come orange, they were all aluminum. This one was rated at 385HP I believe, but it's had a ROM installed to boost that. Along with the ZF 6-speed, it's a very smooth running engine.

Porting the intake, new exhaust and a tune will get 450 up. Without getting inside the motor
