      T56 Clutch Master Q - Again lol

      Hey guys,

      This subject has received a fair amount of discussion in the past and I've done some searches today before asking in a new post.

      The popular solution seems to be to pick up a 4th gen Camaro clutch master cylinder and use the adapter plate (made by just about everyone, DSE's is priced the best).

      Two questions.
      1) Is the 4th gen solution still the one to go with these days? That M/C was used 98-02 only and is getting pretty dated at this point. There aren't better solutions now, or adapters that mate a Tilton set up directly? LS1tech generally seems to hate on the stock 4th gen clutch master pretty good. Seems silly to buy the Tick set up and then the DSE plate rather than to have one adapter from the get go.

      2) If I use the 4th gen setup how are people connecting the M/C to address both the travel issue and over all length issue? ATS used to sell a modified M/C with the rod cut to correct length and welded. Did this eliminate the need for a pedal stop? What are folks doing now?

      Tick makes Corvette and GTO versions that could possibly be made to work without the adaptor plate. You will need to check the slave cylinder fitting though, it may be different. I looked at it and decided to use their F body version with the adaptor because I knew it would work and was just a simple bolt on solution since my firewall was already painted.

      Speedtech carries the correct rod for the master. At the time they were selling the entire master with new rod, but were out of them. They sold me just the rod, and I installed it on a new F-body GM master. I used Fbody slave as well. On the firewall I used the ATS (speedtech) adpater plate you mentioned. This all hooks to stock 69 pedals. The stroke is a bit short, but I'm getting used to it. Got around 1000 mi on it so far. Since the pedal doesnt go all the way to the floor, I made a stop for the pedal. I used a piece of a gate latch I had laying around, but u could use any piece of metal. I attached it using one of the column plate bolts, and glued a piece of rubber where the pedal contacts the stop. The stop just keeps the pedal from over travelling and busting the master. Scott

      My T56 came with everything from a GTO including the clutch master and slave. I bought the adapter plate for the fbody setup before I realized they were different. Can the GTO hydraulic stuff be used or would it better to buy the f-body stuff?
