      68 charger

hi everyone, new to the site, and I have a very nice 68 charger I've grown a little tired of.
thinking of pro touring it and need some advice on front and rear suspensions, wheels, tire sizes
etc...I honestly have no idea where to start
      thanks

look at the parts and cars available from XV Motorsports for some ideas. I can't help beyond that, sorry.

RMS makes a front suspension kit that replaces the whole K-frame and converts it to coilovers & rack/pinion steering. That kit has developed a lot of fans in the last few years because it's entirely bolt-on and it works pretty well.

XV Motorsports looks good on paper but there have been some complaints from their customers. Quality issues and months-long backorders.

IMHO the vast majority of guys really don't need either of those setups. They would be content with a mildly modified stock suspension if they just modded it right. The stock front end mainly just needs more caster angle in the upper A-arms, a tighter steering box, and some minor welding/gusseting in a few places on the (stock) K-frame.

You've got your Hotchkis products for stock style suspension upgrades. They have an array of parts from replacement torsion bars of various spring rates, a arms, and (I think) even subframe connectors. The link is on the right-------------------------->>>>

Reilly Motorsports has complete bolt on front suspension (Alter-k-tion) that include K-frame, rack and pinion steering and brake kits included. THey also carry the air ride rear suspension and have their own rear suspension kit called Street Lynx. www.reillymotorsports.com

There are several other including Magnum Force and CAP that do similar versions of Reilly's Alter-k-tion but RMS is the main vendor for coilover conversions. Don't even get me started on XV Motorsports. Their front suspension is a very well designed piece but with the price and the hassle of dealing with them I would leave them alone and wish I would have in the past.

Like Amir said, you can do alot with torsion bar cars. Don't think because there is an alternative that it is automatically better. The Hotchkis cars are wicked fast. There is a 68 Roadrunner flying the Hotchkis flag that your Charger would do good to emulate. He has Hotchkis parts and you could have the same parts for a lot less money than a coilover system, if money is a factor (even if it isn't, Hell!).

I've said it before, but, if I didn't already have an Alter-k-tion I would be running a complete Hotchkis system. That's not saying anything is wrong with the Alter-k-tion. It is a great system and Bill Reilly has above and beyond customer support but the Hotchkis is a lot cheap,r, comparatively, and makes a light years difference in performance over stock t-bar cars. Welding up the uni-body will vastly improve the cars handling characteristics as well.

There is a great site that you may get some answers on as well, www.protouringmopar.com
