      Joe Rogans Cuda

I just watched a video blog and he says the he was cruising on the hwy doing 70, then came home and in the driveway the front wheel suspension gave way and broke loose from the frame.. so he got it fixed up and sold it! Yikes.

Doesn't surprise me. They used Trepanier used Magnum Force junk and then further "modified" it to reduce what little integrity it had. The car, IMHO, was built to be mostly static with only light abuse. Definitely a car that Trepanier did not shine on. Blo-Fish on the other hand .......

Don't get me wrong, I really like the styling and extensive metal work on the Sickfish (bought the build book and box set of "Rides" because of Sickfish) but when I viewed them hacking on that piece of junk front suspension I knew it was going to be problems for that car.

That's what he was saying.. that he was lucky it didn't fail 10 mins before when he was doing 70 on the hwy.

I don't care how much of a 'prop' it was supposed to be... people are driving them.

I have personally followed many of Troys cars around the country since 1989...sometimes at felony speeds. The design and execution of his suspension work is impeccable. His cars are fine driving machines.
I do not know what the story is on this car but it has obviously not been fully told. To immediately give credence to the comedic license of a civilian checkbook hotrodder over Troy Trepanier seems irresponsible. Troys reputation has been forged by cars such as Chicayne, Sniper, Blowfish, Predator, and several of Poteets cars that they didn't even bother to name. These cars Are STILL driven, and driven hard, some on a daily basis.

I agree with Bret. Be aware that car was built almost 10 years ago. I'm sure someone else has worked on it since.........

Have you seen the Rides episode or know about the bad design of the front suspension they used? FWIW, Troy didn't build the front suspension, his shop installed a kit that has long been the subject of ridicule with Mopar suspension guys. The kit has a coil-over shock attached to the LCA and the thin-azz sheet metal of the inner fender. THat is no place for a coil-over to be mounted on a Mopar. I've heard of shocks punching though the inner fender and other failures. I've never seen a Magnum Force kit personally but the K-member looks like 3/4" tubing.

I think it was a combination of Rad Rides not having very much experience with Mopars at the time and the show production. I 100% agree that "Chicayne, Sniper, Blowfish, Predator, and several of Poteets cars" are super high quality builds that will stand the test of time and abuse.
Sickfish, and it's right there for viewing, was built with a low quality aftermarket front suspension. Look at right now, people in the Mopar circles are talking Hotchkis, Alter-k-tion, and XV. Where's Magnum Force in the discussion of quality front suspensions for Mopar? This is definitely not a knock on Troy an the crew, by me anyway. They have sent hundreds of cars out the door and one stand up comic's car has problems.
Would the guy be having this issue if they would have used an Alter-k-tion, XV (if they were around), OEM t-bar front, or a homogeneous design? Face facts gentlemen, I don't care if the car came from the very best builder, if he isn't familiar with, but gets sold on, a particular inferior part there may be problems a couple thousand miles down the road.

I would like a link as well. I would like to hear the full story to see if it was the coil-over that went through the inner fender or if it was where they "modified" the suspension to get a lower ride height?

He explains what happened, and said Steve Strope fixed it, then he sold it.

I don't think the full story has been told, but what's just as irresponsible is to discount the owner as some ignorant checkbook hotrodder and call him a "pendejo".

The guys car had a massive failure and is lucky that it happened in the driveway instead of the highway, and somehow people want to lay into him first because he's supposedly a "rich celebrity".

The whole story needs to be told, he could have took it somewhere else for something? I certainly didn't start this thread to blame any builder.. and from the vid it doesnt even sound like Joe is doing that either.

So, no one has asked how this will affect the shootout between Rogan and Bill Goldberg. What the heck is Rogan going to drive now?

Wouldn't have happened with an Alter-K-tion. I have one on a 64 Dodge and it's the strongest part of the car - by far. I've heard of Mopars totaled, balled up and the Alter-k was the only straight part left.

I think the idea with the Magnum Force is your supposed to build support for the shock towers - but most people don't.

He says in the interview that the suspension detached from the frame. I noticed in the video the Magnum Force K-frame was modified. It was supposed to attach on the underside of the frame by the original k-frame mounting bolts and in the same location. The tubular k-frame's mounting locations were cut off and welded to the inside of the frame rails.
It sounds like he is saying the welds broke on the frame. How much abuse he put it through is unknown. How many pot holes/miles/ever jack it up by the k-frame??? It did last almost a decade whereas I thought it would fail sooner when I saw it on the DVD.
