Pulled the trigger on the complete kit with spindles to replace the Heidts I had bought. Went to the shop today and found out the Doug's headers I have won't work. The pitman arm hits one of the tubes on the driver side header when turned to the left. No big deal, just need to cut the turned and have the header re coated.

Will say the kit is top notch.

Funny you said that, I had the SAME exact problem with my Dougs headers.. Good news/Bad news... Bad news is your gonna have to get new headers since trying to dimple them wont work cause you'd have to just about crush it.. Good news is there is plenty of info on here of the type and kind of step headers you can replace them with. If I can get the part number of the one I used I will send it over. Also, Dougs headers are GREAT and you should have no problem selling them off for a good price to offset the cost.

Either way it is a small price to pay for this kit. I have 265's up front with no fender mods on a 9 inch rim though and ridetech stuff front and back. The car handles unbelievable and looks sick with the big meats up front and 335's out back. Well worth it!

Yeah if you can find what you went with that would be helpful. I know the Dynatech headers work. I am running a SBC not an LS set up like most of the postings that I have read through.

Our initial thought is to just cut the tube that is interfering and weld in a new one, then have that header recoated. I have a buddy with a powder coating oven at his house so it should be cheaper and less hassle than buying new headers and selling the Doug's.

I also have a set of Hedman shorty (mid length) headers that I haven't tried yet. I was running them with my automatic tranny and now that I am going manual, Summit notes say they won't work with the Z bar. I will have to check.

I would use the G-mod with the ridetech system, but they are using a very tall spindle and that creates a better control arm geometry, testing will tell

      Thanks for that info Britt..

Couple more questions.. what is the width of that plate (looks to be maybe 14" wide)? Just trying to get a grasp for the distance of the bumpsteer measurement to the spindle's balljoint axis.. Also, is the 0.0XX" bumpsteer measurement between both sides (overall change in toe) or only for 1 side (measured from some central plane in the middle of the car)?

      Thanks again!

Let's drag this forward to see if anyone knows whether or not a 17x9.5 wheel clears the steering arm or if an 18" wheel is necessary to clear the steering arm. I see from ridetech's pic's that the arm is up inside the wheel so I'm concerned that a 17" wheel won't fit. I don't have anything to try since I sold my ROH 17's already - hoping to get some quick help on this since I really want to order wheels tomorrow. If it clears, I'm thinking a 17x9.5 with 5.75" backspacing should work just fine on the front. I'm still not sure what to order for the back with a stock width rear axle. I know I definitely don't want to exceed 9.5-10" wide on the rear without the tubs installed.

      Thanks!!

Can someone please elaborate on the issues with Wilwood brakes mentioned on the other page? I have the TruTurn (along with the complete level 2 airride package) coming in for my 68 Camaro. this is what I currently have upfont

Now,since I have bought the car from a reseller here, already built I do not know which kit this is - the rotors are 12.2" ...nor do I have any accessories or mounting bolts that came with the original Wilwood kit. Is there anything I should go ahead and order now? since I am overseas and if during Iassembly I find that something isn't working out it will be at least 2-3 weeks before I can get the necessary parts shipped here.

      thanks.

Greg - look at the caliper bracket where it bolts to the spindle. There are two bolts - the top bolt mounting point is different from drum to disc brake spindles. If your car has drum spindles, you'll need to call Wilwood and source the necessary spacer and longer upper mounting bolt. If your car has disc spindles then the ridetech spindles are a direct swap.

Disregard my question about 17x9.5's fitting over the steering arm - I bought 18x9.5" wheels today but thanks anyway!

I've posted this elsewhere as well. Just hoping for some real world thoughts on this.

Yeah I know, it's probable been answered but I've been looking through posts for days and don't feel like I can wrap my mind around the entire thing.

My 69 Camaro should be delivered this Saturday and I would like to get started with the order process. I could just go to the many great reps here with ridetech but I was hoping to get everyone's thoughts and impressions as well.

I'll most likely be going with True Forged 18x10s front and 18x12s rear.

#1. I like the Tru Turn system but want more than the suggested 2" drop up front. Prefer the tires tucked under the fenders and realize I may have to go with 9.5s. At the very least I'm wanting 3" of drop. Which leads me to the question. I'm centering the entire suspension around the Tru Turn as a system. I'll get the Tru Turn system (including tall spindles), muscle bar, and the Strong Arm UCAs/LCAs. Why couldn't I add the Chicane kit, or my own top hat, to allow the use of standard coil overs with spherical rod ends top and bottom. Then I could use a long coil over with the same suggested suspension travel and mount it deeper up top. I also realize the LCA may no longer be parallel with the ground (if it is at all) and would slightly alter the intended design, but with the improved design ridetech engineered into this system through the suspension travel, would another inch of drop really alter it that much? I've even considered going as far as channeling the front subframe into the floor pan to give more drop. And air suspension isn't the route I want to go. These are still designed at a specific ride height.

#2. I want to go with the Kore3 14" C6 ZO6 brakes. It's my understanding that aftermarket systems designed to work on the factory GM disc brake spindle will work with the tall RideTech spindles. Do I have to get the Kore3 kit for tall GM spindles http://kore3.com/proddetail.php?prod=10104-03 or the short kit http://kore3.com/proddetail.php?prod=10103-03? Has anyone installed the Kore3 kit on the RideTech spindles? The reason I ask is I found a thread ( https://www.pro-touring.com/showthre...k-Control-Arms )where Jeff Tate ran into issues installing aftermarket brakes on these spindles and the mounting bolts protruded beyond the spindle flat surface. The answer was to machine a nut down thinner to allow clearance to the rotor. Will I have the same issue with the Kore3 kit.....spindle surface to rotor surface clearance? If I have to go with the tall spindle which outer wheel bearing i.d.?

Many of you guys have been there and done that. Was hoping for some real world input.

I'll get a project journal started and document any improvements as I go for the next guy.

      Thanks,
      David

I'd say talk to Tobin at Kore3. I went from ATS tall spindles to the Tru Turn kit and had to get the Short Spindle kit to mount my C5 brakes. Didn't have to do any trimming to any of the hardware.

And I'm using it with my Hotchkis 2" drop coil springs, so I was tucking tire like you want. I had no compression, though. I had to add coil spring spacers to get some clearance between the tire and inner fender.
