It was posted that the stock steering arm must be used. I'm assuming stock pitman arm also? But which ones? Were there not several different lengths depending on PS, MS, performance option, etc. I thought I read that.

Do you lose any ground or oil pan clearance with the added draglink bracket? My concern is unlike most who use LS series engines I am running a Pontiac motor. I know my crowd isn't catered to, but thought I would ask. Anyway, if these get made to work with ATS (SpeedTech) spindles, then I would be interested in it. I guess I can ask if we can get a pictures of the oil pan clearance if possible.

What I want to know is what are the performance gains with setup compaired to DSE, AME, Jakes. I'm not saying that I think for 1000.00 I am going to get the same results as an aftermarket sub frame. But other than 10" rim up front (which is FREEKN awsome by the way) what gains can I see? And not trying bash in any way, I think this product is just what I am looking for as I am running the stock sub frame all welded up smoothed and was just looking for the G/M templet the other day. Any chance the 48 Hour Camaro will be at the Heidt's event this weekend??

What about using DSE upper and lower control arms? I have them now on the car and am wondering if I can just bolt on this system.

The kit was designed on a Power Steering Pitman arm. The stock steering arms will not work, new ones are provided with the kit. Originally Posted by 68ZClone

Just to catch up a bit...
The 48 Hour Camaro will be at the Heidts event this weekend at Autobahn...I'm sitting at the track right now.
Oil pan clearance...the main part of the drag link bracket is the same height as the oem drag link. It is raised only at the ends to relocate the inner tie rod ends. Although I can't consider every possible combination out ther, I can't imagine any oil pan clearance issues.
On fitment with DSE arms...as Darren said, havent tried them yet. I would suspect they would be fine, but you would have to run the suspension it's travel to makecsure there are no clearance or bind issues. Same with any other manufacturers arms, or oem arms.
ATS spindle...working on that to be able to answer yes or no.
Comparison to DSE, Morrison, Jakes, Heidts, Speedtech, etc...bring me a collection of identical cars in every respect except for the front suspension and I'll do a comparison. I know that comes off as being a smartass, but I'm just trying to demonstrate the feasibility of such a comparison. There's just no realistic way to eliminate enough of the variables to pronounce a "winner". It's been tried. The fact is...ALL these manufacturers build really nice products...REALLY nice.Bret Voelkel

I get what you are say about the compairson. Man you are at the trak and I was just up at Heidts shop in Wacconda. I was org plaining on going to the track but than I had changed my mind. Are you planning on answering the question in regards to if turning radius is reduced? I'm waiting until this is addressed before we here at Driverz start selling 18x10s with 275s to customers with this kit (and the phone has been ringing to this regard, I took two phone calls on it today.) I'd love to sell the crap out of this kit, and I'd love to sell wheels and tires for this kit... I would HATE to deal with the backlash of customers calling to complain about tire rub.

Another detail is the requirement to create clearance on the inner wheelhouse and the outer fender lip. While it may not be a difficult amount of metal work and fab, a drawing, template, or even picture details of the 48 hour Camaro would prevent everyone from having to "re-create the wheel" on each car. Sorry, Jon. Didn't realize I skipped that question. On the 48 hr car (which is a 67) we used an 18x10 on a 275 w/ a 5.75 backspacing, at full lock the tire just kisses the frame rail. I have not seen any pictures of the modifications and I wasn't there during them, Kurt from Precision burned the midnight oil finishing that up before the build started. I'll get some pictures.

BTW....I'm seriously considering going with the complete ridetech front (and possibly rear 4 link) suspension package. I suspect the inner fender modifications would take a LOT more time than bolting on the front suspension. I would guess I would have to: 1. Assemble the front suspension, minus the coilover. 2. Mount the brakes and tires. 3. Then stroke the suspension full travel up and left/right 4. Somehow reach up there and make marks on the fender. 5. Take it all apart, remove the inner fenders. 6. Perform the metal cutting and fab, welding. 7. Re-assemble and hope I got it all done correctly. Does this sound about right?

I can only speak for the earlier cars (67,68) as the 48 hour car is a 67, but the fenders were worked over to make the wheels/tires clear everything at the dramatically low stance we wanted. The 69 should not be nearly as modified as it has more clearance to begin with. However, I cannot say how much as we have not yet fitted a 69.
As you can see by the following pictures the part of the fender with that held the stock trim was removed. The remaining lip was then rolled under and a new panel was attached to this. This new panel allowed a slightly modified stock inner fender panel to bolt to the fender, thereby filling all the gaps.
I'm sure more information will be available on more "stock" vehicles later, however, there's not much out there currently as this is a VERY new product. The 48 Hour car was built to be beaten so we did everything we could to fit the largest wheel/tire on a stock subframe and keep everything clear and out of the way when you dump it into a corner at over 100mph at one of the large tracks!

I have driven this car quite a bit, and I can tell you I do not notice any loss of steering.
