4l65 bellhousing what happened?
I've got a 4l65 from a Denali converted to 2wd and 06 ls2 from a vette. I thought all the bellhousings were the same. I can get 7 bolts in but there are two that don't line up.
It doesn't line up on the right side with my retrolsx pan:

And it doesn't line up with the hole just right of center at the top:

Do I need a different housing?
Here are the numbers on the trans:

I'm almost ready to drop this in and I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks
Scott

08-18-2011 #2From what I've determined, it is a 65. I also looked at a diagram which used only 7 bolts and didn't put one in the right side of the back of the oil pan. Also, I'm using bolts from a clutch assembly instead of the studs I saw in the diagram. I hope it will hold and that there won't be any interferance issues. Anybody have any more input on it?

08-18-2011 #3I believe that all ls blocks dont have the bolt at the top, right of center. It is to close to the cylinder bore for it. I wouldnt worry about that one. As for the bottom bolts, that is wierd. You might want to do some checking on ls1tech.com for an answer. Lots of great info on that site.

Its got one of the bolts for the back of the oil pan but not the right. According to the diagram I looked at, it didn't use that hole. What was your experience. I'll post the question over there as well.____________________________________________
