Second control arm question

Sorry should have asked this with my last thread.

When I reassemble my new control arms to the spindle, and spindle to tie rod, how do I "press" the ball joints onto the spindle. Do I push them thru to get the nut on, then tighten the nuts to press the ball joint thru the spindle?

How do I know when they are on far enough. Do I then torque the nuts, or just back off a certain amount, then install the cottor pin?

Any help in appreciated.
