The weak link on a LS engine to the mid 650s HP / 700HPs and up is the head bolts.......or lack there of head bolts. Weather your going to boost it or spray it with NOS, soon as you put enough to it to push past 700ish, 750ish, your in danger of lifting heads. Sure there are stories of 1000HP pump gas LS engines out there, but one dyno pass or drag strip run does not a reliable combination make. And if your beating on it constantly you likely to see problems. The answer? A very expensive 6 bolt block and heads from MAST, RHS or the likes?
I would not do a 5.3 for a 650 to 750 HP goal. It would take more then 8PSI so lifting heads is a strong possibility and detonation is likely also and then fuel would become a issue.
What octane is available in France anyway?
A 6.0 would be a perfect choice, most truck engines are a point lower in compression which is even better for forced induction allowing more boost. Not sure about shipping and import duties going into France, but we have a couple brand new 6.0s available cheap. Like under $4k cheap. For a budget forced induction application are perfect.
