help a cheapskate pick out wheels!!!

i really like this whole pro touring movement and would love to make my 1969 chevelle a g-machine, but i really don't have enough money for boyd coddingtons or even american racing wheels. i would like to buy a cheaper (but still good looking) set of wheels so i could spend money on new disk brakes to replace my fourwheel manual drums or maybe replace my suspension dead stock right down to the bushings. anyone know where i could find cheap(er) wheels that still look good? late model maybe? thanks

I went with the Vintage WheelWorks 16x8 wheels that were blems so they were $650 a set. The tires are Falken Ziex 245/50/16 up front and 255/50/16 in the rear and they were $350 delivered. Here's the car:

Jay, I have wheels that were initially intended for a beemer....

I don't know about backspacing on a Chevelle....that is the part you have to figure out....

BMW uses 5x120mm boltcircle, which is only half a millimeter difference from the chevy. You will need to make (or buy) centerrings.

3series wheels have an offset compared to corvette and late camaros and 5/7 series is what I used....but measure to be sure!!!

2 reasons I got them:

- I got them cheap(ish)
- no-one else has them!! the chance you will find another Camaro with my wheels is very very small....and I like that

ROH wheels are pretty cheap(i mean inexpensive) but they do look good and will get you by until you get what you need.

If the BMW bolt pattern is too small how do you get them to fit the Chevy bolt pattern? Do you put them in a mill and slot the holes or live with the 0.03 interference (i.e. 120mm=4.724")? I also understand the the hub diameters are different. With the BMW hubs being larger. Are there any concerns that the wheel wouldn't be centered by the hub but by the lugnut mounting?

Dennis-your camino was the one on the centerline website. i guess i would be kind of a copycat if i had those wheels becuase my chevelle is already currently getting painted white!

JL8JEFF- those are cool too, but would it make a drastic difference in handling between 16 and 17 inchers?

corey and martin-i think the wheels that corey has are the same ones as on my mom's 2003 bmw 540 with the sport package. the bmw wheel thing is definatley a possibility....

I went with the 16's because I wanted a taller sidewall to soften the driving. Our NJ roads are horrible and too short of a sidewall will definitely lead to damage here. I'm sure the handling won't be as good as 17's but the cost difference in the end was at least $500 less for the 16's and tires compared to 17's and tires.

AS we speak I am busey looking for new wheels...these are the ones I allways wanted and I have found them......I still like the ones I have...but these....see pic!

Maybe I will just keep 2 sets of wheels and let my mood decide which to use.... :icon996:

Those are my favorite BBS wheels. I'd like to get my client to go with that wheel. He wants a Z06 wheel, and I think that the one you posted is an excellent compromise.

Well Tyler, I wanted them for a long time but they are too expensive for me... BUT... I got a nice uset set with tires yesterday for the price of 1 new rim!!!
(was a 500km/ 6hour drive though)
