      Fast EFI question

Ok I finally placed my order for the Fast EFI kit, purchased the one with the fuel pump.

Now for the question. I also purchased a new fuel tank, pickup and straps. I know this system needs a return so I was going to weld on a bung so I can use AN fittings. Is it best to have the connection at the top of the tank? Also, I was going to weld a bracket to the back of the tank to hold the fuel pump, good Idea or bad?

Anything else I should know about installing this kit (PN 30227)?

      Thanks for the help

      John

When I do a return line, I like to have it return high in the tank and then have a tube on the inside that runs straight down and has between 1/2" and 1" of clearance to the bottom of the tank. I will also place the return as far away from the pick up as possible to avoid aerating the fuel being picked up to go to the pump.

      Fuel Tank Question

Hey Guys never installed an EFI system, What do you think about this idea of mounting the pump. Also, I welded in a threaded bung for the return line. Before I paint the tank I would like to know if this is a good or bad idea? Also, the Fast EFI needs a 3/8 return line, so I was going to use the factory steel line from the old system and run the new line from the pump to the EFI system, this ok?Name: DSC_0019.JPG

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you mounted the pump right where the passenger side strap wraps around the underside of the tank. You won't be able to bolt it to the car.

Thanks Nick I thought of that and tested it. I made it stand off the tank so the strap fits behind the pump and does not hit at all

Glad you thought of that. I always seem to find those things out the hard way. Let us know how the EZ EFI does. I've been tempted to give it shot; it looks like a real nice system.

I think you will like EZ Efi, but you have the pump set up backwards.

lol nice catch I see it now, Glad I didn't use the wrench on it yet I will spin it around. Also I see now looking at it, I could drop the pump further down by flipping the brackets.
      Thanks

One other question, what about venting? Is it ok to just replace the gas cap with a vented version?

      Thanks

How do you like the system?

Have you had any trouble with fuel starvation, by using the stock tank?

I like it. really works great. No problem at all with the tank even below a 1/4 tank. I had more problem with the timing then anything.

Did you get the FAST XFI system?...I'm looking at the TPI-FAST XFI and just can't pull the trigger yet. Still reading up on it plus have another project eating up my funds at the moment.
      1970 RS/SS350 139K on the clock:
89 TPI motor w/ 1pc rear seal coupled to a Viper T56 via Mcleod's modular bellhousing w/ hydraulic T/O bearing from the Viper, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.73 gearing, SC&C upper control arms, factory lowers with Delalums, C5 brakes at all four corners, Front Wheels 17x8's with Sumi 255/40/17 and Rear Wheels 17x9's with Sumi 275/40/17.
