as a spectator, bring your camera, a fold-out chair, and some water / drinks. It gets REALLY hot out there. Best option would be to throw a cooler with some ice, water and snacks in it, and keep it in your car (unless of course you are autoxing). Last year they opened up the kitchen counter at the auction house, which made it nice for folks that needed some chow or drinks.

Other than that, just come out and be prepared to see some fast, fun and cool racing (and possibly a few spin-outs, cone-kills and burn outs).

Anyone know if Finch is coming out again this year?

hahaha, no, that wasn't directed specifically at you! It was more in general, as there were quite a few of them at each event :-)

I just registered/paid. As a newby, a couple of questions come to mind:

Car security overnight.... Anyone thinking about overnight watch schedule ? We do that at the Rod Run sometimes. Is it even an issue ?

Also, I'm coming from SC down I-85, and wondered if there is a better route around Atlanta than I-285 ? I don't mind backroads, but I have Atlanta stop/go traffic.

Looks like it will be Friday evening. I plan on leaving around 3-4 PM, and it's about a 3 hour drive to Cartersville.

Hwy 20 in Buford (Exit 115 on I-85) is a direct shot over. With traffic it will suck...

You could just mapquest something...just pick a few bigger highways and you'll be okay. Hwy 369 (I think that's right) comes to mind as it crosses from Gainesville to Canton... But at rush hour they'll suck as well.

I-285 at 6:00 on a Friday will probably suck...but in the event you get a late start it might be starting to clear up a bit.

      Are you seeing a pattern?

hwy 53 off 85 is another way to go it connects to a couple other roads and hits hwy 20 not far from canton. I go across the back roads that way to Road Atlanta. Google map link below is the way I usually cut across the back roads.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I like the Hwy 53 route across lake Lanier to Hwy 20, looks like a nice ride. The last few times I came through ATL on 85 or 285 was miserable !

Touching on the car security deal again, I'm a little concerned about theft or vandalism. My car's not a high dollar car by any means, but still concerned nonetheless. Maybe some of us can discuss this Friday evening and form an overnight watch ? Any other suggestions ?

you could probably get a few folks with trucks / trailers to block in the cars that are on the pavement, kind of like an old wagon train. You can also contact the hotel and inquire about their security staff / policy. Short of that, you can always remove the battery / coil wire / etc. to make it a little harder for someone to grab.

Good suggestions. I have a theft deterrent sytem, but otherwise will just cover it and hope for the best. What time does everyone plan on going over to redtop Saturday morning ?

If you’re suggesting sending men with weapons of war to take my weapons of war, then I’m fairly certain that’s what’s called an act of war… and the definition of tyranny.which coincidentally is the reason for the second amendment to begin with!

Thanks David, that's a very generous offer ! I think I'll be okay, especially since there will be alot of us there, but it's a good option to have.

Trailer is loaded and I'm rolling out in 30 minutes ! See you all there.
