      Carter AVS

I came across a Carter AVS in PYP a few months ago, and decided I would use it for some as yet undecided motor/project.

Now I think I will use it to swap in a carb'd 4.6 mod into my 66 F100 soon to be pro-touring.

I know its a bit large technically, but with the open plenum and driving about 2500-2800 rpm I think it would work just fine. The truck is a long bed, and when I drive my friends 2003 F150 it likes to rev, and some of the Mustang post seem to confirm that.

How good of a carb is the Carter AVS? The one I have is 650 CFM, and originall came on a 429 Ford of some kind. I wanna try it to see how well it does, but only if it will perform well.

Are you sure its a Carter AVS as the only carbs Ford used were Carter Qjets, how about a picture?

Edelbrock bought the Carter line some years ago, so youll find more information looking under the edelbrock name.

I personally like the Carter AFB and AVS carbs for a number of reasons, and have been using one on my car for a long time now.
