Pro-Touring truck ?

Ok, I have a question that I would like your input on. Has any one ever done a pro-touring 65 Chevy truck? I dont know if it would fall under the pro-touring class but I think it would be a little different.

There are quite a few PT trucks out there, and on here. A few that come to mind are: Phillips and Co 69 C-10, No Limit F-100, and the Hotchkis Chevy.

Rob (no limit) is working on a 67 or 68 C10 too. I think it would be cool to see a 65 C10 on 18's running the cones or open track events.

There are a bunch of us S10 guys throwing metric chassis parts at the front of our trucks and a few custom linked suspension rears. You can't get a cheaper RWD vehicle than a truck anymore. There is one newer silverado getting a full custom frame on here in the projects section too.

There was a guy that had a 1955 (or that style) pickup that had a full tube chassis that was a road race beast. He had a 406 or 434 high revving SBC in there and was in Hot Rod or PHR a couple times, but it has been a while, 10 years or so. Anyone remember that truck?

That truck is HOT.

That is Mike Hickmans C-10. It was the baddest truck before the No Limit F-100 went into full swing. After seeing the parts that the Hotchkis R&D department is putting into it, I'm confident it will give the F-100 a run for its money, and be a fully streetable truck.

Don't get hung up on definitions or whether it will fit under the P-T umbrella or be well received. If you improve the looks, handling and overall performance, you have friends here. There is some major diversity here way beyond domestic trucks and we're down with all of it as long as you do the three aforementioned things.

That's it! I need to find a write up on that thing, it was/is the coolest thing ever. He was dominating the track in a big ass pickup, nothing cooler than that.

Thanks for the comments, I agree. I probably need to get my truck on here. I've got a ton of loot and time (like everyone here) in my pickup and it definitely meets all the criteria.

Brian Finch has a few friends with some pro-touring trucks. One friend (Mark?)has a 65/66 c-10 that has some cool suspension mods as well as 18" wheels. The other friend is Mark Turner has a green 67-72 C-10 done pro-touring style. Both guys are really good people. I rode in the 65/66 at RTTH's last year..

check some of the trucks on 67-72chevytrucks.com There are a few on here, but tons on there. Some are pro-touring, but the more common with that generation is pro-stock/drag trucks or bagged. I have a 63 that I plan on pro-touring when I'm done with my Camaro. Here are a few examples though:

Yes, trucks can be considered Pro-Touring. There are a few Pro-Touring 65 Chevy trucks projects being built but we’re not sure if any are out on the street yet. Compared to the amount of Pro-Touring Camaros out there, a Pro-Touring ’65 Chevy truck will definitely stand out in a crowd. Trucks can definitely be Pro-Touring. Since I sold the El Camino and haven't finished the Camaro, I have been autocrossing my truck. While it is a bit newer than the others in this thread, it still is Pro-Touringish.

i knew a guy who built a Ford Ranger Splash that can do wonders on the track!!!

Hey, I know exactly where that shot was taken! I was there! My friend Kevin left a trail of drool across the lot to get to it. LOL

Whether it be dubbed performance truck, Pro-Touring truck or Sport Truck, there is a niche out there for it and people like myself love seeing (and aspire to build) trucks that can haul more than wood. Do it, post it and enjoy it man!

You have to build something that you love, if you don't connect with a vehicle move on until you do. unfortunately, if you are like me you connect with way to many vehicles! I've had a couple of great handling s10s, a c10 shouldn't be a whole lot different.
