      Anti-Sub Belts

      QUICK QUESTION...

The seats I have do not have a spereate hole for anti-sub belts. Do I need to run anti-sub belts for events like RTTH/RTTC/RTTS etc and if I do is it ok if they come up around the bottom of the seat?

Are you installing the Kirkeys or the stock seats with a harness? Coming up around doesn't allow the harness to function properly and might be less effective in a crash than a stock seatbelt. Check your PM

The seats I have in the car now are these type of seats...

I have not put the Kirkey's in the car yet. I have the G-Force Pro harnesses in the car now and have been using it as a four point harness with the seats. There is no whole in the seat to allow an anti-sub belt to properly come thru. Once I install the Kirkey's this issue will be solved but until then I am stuck with the black sport seats.

I've been wondering this myself. Can you add a sub belt hole to seats that do not come with it? I rode in the DSE cars at Goodguys a couple weekends ago and felt the 4-point harness was a little odd with the lap belt riding up when the shoulders are tightened down. It may not have been too bad had I taken more time to adjust but I dont think I could have gotten it to feel completely right with any amnt of adjusting. I also rode in the Gateway Performance Mustang which had the 5-point belts. It felt soo much more secure.

so....is it better to just use the four point harness with the Jegs seats...or to cutr those seats up and make a hole for the anti-sub belt?

So if I am reading correctly (just a quick scan really), to get a sub-belt style system without having to use a sub-belt hole, just go to a 6-point harness. The sub-belts can mount to the same mounts as the lap belt and come over the side of the seat.

If you get your lap belt nice and tight first, it will glue you to the seat. I'm in the same position. Sparco's with no hole. I tried running the sub belt over the seat front and it did help. I just don't want the seat wear. As has been said, it's not the safest route but it will keep you from moving around on the track.

Yes. That can be true, depending on lots of factors.
