Why the hell are LS valve covers so expensive???????

I've got an ls7 I'm going simple utilitarian on my rebuild. I'm planning to satin black the whole engine including some Katech style valve covers. Valve covers are $400!!!! Then $300 for the coil relocation kit!!!!!! $700 in valve covers?????

      Are there any better options?

I've always like the Katech ones myself. It's just the market really. They make them for the higher end Vette people so therefore the products are priced higher.

Another option is using the stock covers and knocking the coil bosses off of them before polishing or powder coat. Coil relocation brackets aren't difficult to fab either.

It doesn't look nearly as trick... but then again they'll give you the exact same HP gain as the expensive parts

...And I read on LS1TECH that the C/F valve covers leak! I like Katech the best, but there's also fabbed (yuck), theres GMPP (not bad for $100) or Eddie ($430). You can also add coil relo brackets for less than $100.
