Personally to me hearing the sweet sound of my engine is 'music to my ears', plus i always want to hear every sound my car makes to help diagnos any problems....Now when i am parked my 6x9 are good enough for me! just my 2cents.

You are not going to hear it very well. have a 69 with dynamatt, 3 inch exhaust ect. Sounds great in the garage but not so stellar driving down the road. 2 four inch JL's in the center dash, 5.25 seperates in the kicks, 6x9's out back with 10 sub firing though back seat.
Problem with mine is if I crank if up above the exhaust noise, my head is ringing in 15 minutes. I must be getting old. Still no real sound quality driving down the road. Not saying I do not listen to it, but it is more back ground noise. Personally, and I am no stereo expert, you need a front stage and up fairly high. All of your music coming from the back is just not going to get it. I am going to move my seperate tweets from the kicks up to the A pilars, but it will still not be great driving.
