Hey guys,
Names Charlie. Dont worry, The "RicerwannaB" screen name is a joke. Im not really a RicerwannaB. I bought a 1969 Pontiac GTO in 2009 while I was still in the Marine corps. Nothing better to spend my combat pay on! I am a former 0331 Infantry Machine Gunner with 1st Bn 4th Mar 1st Mar Div.
Well, enough about me. On to the car. Its 69' GTO, 400/auto. Its all stock as of now. I originally wanted to keep it stock, But the modification bug has bitten me again. And I dont really want to build anymore turbo mustangs or LSx powered RX7's. So its time to start with the GTO.
My plans for the car as of right now
Engine:
Stock 400 block 461 stroker
not sure on heads / intake / carb setup yet.
I would like it to work with the stock Ram Air setup, I plan on adding a functional Ram Air III/IV Ram Air intake setup.
Trans:
TKO600/T-56 Im not sure what way I want to go yet.
Im still researching my options as far as clutch / flywheels / Bell housing ect.
Suspension:
I was looking at the Edelbrock 52066 Pro-Touring suspension package.
Still researching my options.
Brakes:
Fronts: ATS AFX spindles
C6 ZO6 rotors/calipers
Rear:
Disc conversion, Unsure of what way I want to go
Wheels:
Im thinking 17X8 front 17X10 rear Wheel Vintiques 93 series Rally II's. (but there so damn expensive) and I dont even know if they would work with the Z06 brakes.
Im trying to keep a stockish looking look to the car. So the factory interior will be retained, Reason I want to use the stock looking Rally II's. Stock Ram Air intake setup. ect.
But still obtaining the Pro-Touring look and Function. I want to be able to drive the car to work and back in the summer, Drive it to the track, Pull off a low 12 high 11, and run to the local Autocross / Road race track and hold me own.
Now this is all just a basic over view of my plan. It still requires alot of research and learning what works and what doesnt from others experience. Im looking forward to learning alot on here and building my car.
