Ever have a day you wish you could do over, after you know how it should been done

I spent 6 hours today trying to get the LT1 & T56 apart & out of the Monte. If anyone is taking an LT1 version of the T56 off of the motor, all I am saying is pull the clutch fork out!

Doh! That one slips people up all the time when pulling or installing a T56. You got it though. Live and learn.

I did a install on a Ford 300 I6 in a aviation fuel truck once where I left out the seperator plate that goes between the engine block and the bellhousing. I was right to the point of pouring in the water into the radiator and fire the engine up when I saw the plate sitting there. I got very creative in how I put it in the truck without completely removing the engine, or removing the heavy a$$ manual trans, or chopping up the freakin' thing. I did make up some new words to describe Fords that day though.

on my first engine build, I discovered the hard way that the machine shop did not replace the oil galley plugs they removed (Furd 351w), after I told them to replace ANYTHING they take off the block.
The engine was running and had oil pressure but not the high volume it should have. Take apart the whole front AGAIN, (Furds have all accessories hanging on the water pump) and a 3 minute fix.... Arrggh!

MANY years ago, I was moving my 283 and muncie from my old malibu to my 'new' nova, and had a choice between using the aluminum bellhousing I had in the 'bu, or a steel one that came w/ the car (and 2 different diameter flywheels).
when I went to start it up, all I got was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...(sound of starter free-spinning) as the starter didn't contact the flywheel.

I had installed the smaller flywheel w/ the steel bellhousing, which had the starter positioned too far out.
