If you're installing tow hooks that might be used on a road track it has to be strong. Think about pulling a 3500 lb car out of a sand trap thats up to it's axles. The track tow guys need to get the car out and tow hooks make it quicker and easier for them.

Exactly. I'm not too keen on the steel plate designs (some are aluminum). I'm just not sure they are up to the job of hauling a big-ass car out of the gravel. Mine is a 3/4 -16 forged steel lift hook rated to 6000 lbs, attached to the frame with a TIG-welded threaded end on a 4130 tube that is bolted to the frame with 4 3/8 bolts. That's a tow hook.



I need to put one on the back too, but haven't found a strong enough mount. Some of the Z06 guys use the exhaust hanger bolts, and I'm just not convinced that's strong enough.
