We're looking forward to Motor State too! I haven't been able to talk Deb into running the road course though. She's afraid of grenading the trans and not being able to run it on the auto-x on Sunday. Chicken!

We're long overdue for an update on the wagon but since our 66 and Sam's 4-door have been getting so much attention we've been slacking. Debbie has been driving the wheels off of the wagon and doing great! Keeping in mind that the 327 is worn out and 205 and 235 tires don't stick too well. She had a blast on the auto-x at the Motorstate Challenge and then last weekend had a good time on the Goodguys auto-x in Columbus. The L&H spindles are working great and Deb is as happy with their performance as she was about their good looks. When I drove the wagon home from Chevellabration I felt a some bumpsteer, but then realized the air bags in the springs were full from having it loaded down with coolers, tools and chairs. Once I let the air out it drove excellent again. We can't say enough good things about Luke and L&H Kustoms!

Here's a picture of Deb's three backseat drivers exiting the wagon after a fun run at Columbus. Yep, that's right, a total of five people in the car... I still have Chad from Bangshift.coms' words running through my mind. "We have tire rub!" Good times though!

Jimi Day from FM3 Marketing / optima was kind enough to allow us to park the wagon inside the show Friday and Saturday night then really went over the top on Sunday by letting us leave it there all day. Great display vehlicle...

Wow Tom I can belevie I missed this build thread. I just love the wagons. My wife always tells me if I build her a wagon than she would drive a hot rod. The kids say how cool it would be to pull up at school driving in a cool car. Can't wait to see more on this wagon!

Thanks Rick! We love the wagon, but with all that is going on with our 66 and Sam's 67 it just doesn't get enough love. At some point it needs some motor updates, manual trans and eventually paint and body. All in time I guess...

Not too much exciting happening with the wagon lately, but here's a little modification we made to the brake pedal. At some point I had stolen the rubber pad for another project and Deb had been driving it with just the bare metal. So, I removed the old pedal pad, took a piece of 1/8" steel plate, rounded it and welded it to the pedal arm. Blasted, primed, painted and glued anti-slip material to it. Just a stop gap until we win the manual transmission lottery and one shows up on the door step...

We did just register the wagon for Deb to drive it at the Midwest Musclecar Challenge. I had talked to Mark Bowler about just running it on Sunday at the autocross, but we figured we'd just step up and beat on it both days. What could go wrong with a SBC and a regular oil pan?...

Absolutely nothing will go wrong with that combo! The guy with the trick road race pan, oil cooler, and accusump will roast his rod and main bearings though! Murphy's Law!

Yep, I live by Murphy's laws of combat. I'd still feel better about having a baffled pan on the good ole 327.

Well, the wagon and I made it through the weekend at the Midwest MuscleCar Challenge without a problem. The wagon just keeps going even when I doubt it. I ended up with 2 practice sessions of about 15 minutes each and then 5 timed laps. We were not the fastest on the road course Saturday but, the car handles like a dream. The transmission on the other hand was starting to loose some fluid by the end of the timed session and was smoking pretty bad, the review mirror even ended up splattered with trans fluid. (figure that one out!) It is probably more of my fear of pushing it to the edge the then car not being able to handle it. My instructor was even a great sport in riding the road course with only lap belts. Thank you Jeff Preston for all the pointers, I was feeling much more comfortable by the end the day.

Sunday was a full day with the Autocross and speed stop. Once again the wagon did great, I would like to have more power but, I am getting lots of practice and having a blast getting through the cones. I had to laugh, after I let Sam have a go at running the wagon on the auto cross, he said he has been giving me the wrong advice on the line I should be running, it was harder than he though to maneuver it through the cones. I have decided that I will keep running the wheels off the wagon and having a blast. I will just go through the learning curve again once it has made it to the top of the projects list and gets upgrades that will make "us" better!

From the 10/10ths photobucket page, me getting ready to enter the road course

We missed having Ol' Blue there!
I am not ready to give up the small block just yet, I think some new heads and a few go fast up grades will do the trick for me right now. Tom and Sam have a plan to get me going faster but, it will not happen until after Sam's car is done. I really want a 5 speed before anything else!

I would reconsider the 5 speed for a 6 speed they just shift so much better, and they are really not that much more.

I guess ol blue will see you guy @ RTTH's LOL!!!
