      Fast crank trigger 301180

I was wondering if i could use the fast crank trigger 301180 with the bigstuff3 ?

I wanted to use the Fast crank trigger with say an MSD dist MSD-84697.

The Fast crank trigger says it dosen"t have any magnets, so is it a hall effect?

I believe my BS3 is set up for mag/inductive pickup.

      Hope i make sense!

      Thanks. dave

It is a magnet trigger Wheel, the magnet is in the sensor. whereas the MSD magnets are mounted on the wheel. When the magnets are mounted on the wheel that is refereed to as a flying magnet.
On the Fast Crank Trigger the magnet is in the sensor. Ford used this set up on the EDIS wasted spark ignition. With the Flying magnet trigger wheel there is the possibility of the magnets being thrown off
      due to centrifical force.

      Thanks Ollie for your reply!

Do you think i should use the MSD MSD-84697 as a match for that crank trigger?
Or what do you guys recommend for a dist?

And do i have to remove all but one of the relutors in the above msd dist, or is there only one in there as its a crank trigger dist anyway?

I have the msd 2345 dual sync dist now, but wanted to use a crank trigger for easier set-up and more accuracy.

      thanks for any help. dave.

That's a crank trigger distributor you have pictured...there are no reluctor teeth present (that's why it's used with a crank trigger). IT's not designed as a cam sync. It's just cap and rotor used for distribution. You'll need to modify a standard distributor (locked out) to use as a mag cam sync or add a magnet/pckup to that one if you need the short style.

Or keep the 2345 and just use the cam sync output.

Guess i may just keep the 2345 msd...just thought that setting up a crank trigger would be a little easier and more accurate...so i have read anyway, thats why all the questions!

But i guess i should save some money and keep what i got then.

      Thank you guys!

      dave.
