      La Quinta Parking Lot Duty

With the upcoming RTTC event there has been a lot of coverage of what's going on and where people are staying. Human nature being what it is, scumbags abound and may take advantage of what should be a lot of fun for us. Both cars and trucks with trailers become targets for rotten SOB thieves.

So, to ease the collective minds of everyone staying at the La Quinta there's a couple things we can do. One, and I'll be the first to volunteer for one of the wee-hours shifts, is to have a rotating watch to keep an eye on things. The other is to pitch in to hire a security guard. I don't know what it would cost for that.

      So, what say you?

Good point. Let me know if I can help. I have posted before for the out of towners that I have a few secure spots at my house which is 20 min in Long Beach. Would be willing to allow someone to barrow our suburban to comute upto 9 people back to the hotel. Not sure if this is helpful or not as this would take 40 min out of your day. I also have access to a hanger at the Long Beach Airport that a few cars could be secured if the Suburban comute idea takes off.

Yes the logistics of keeping your collector ride safe... I feel the pain every time I go out in my Convt.

The prior offer was more for the people that wanted a place to park a trailer and/or a car in the garage during their extended stay for some site seeing. But Im willing to work with the group. The Nite Guard or shift may be the way to go as for the quantity of cars.

I think it is a good idea. I would be willing to help money wise, or time wise.

If you guys are serious, I am a cop here in So Cal and live minutes away from the base. I am not driving since my car is not done but I am willing to be a security volunteer, legally armed as well.... I may get a few other guys to help as well?

Let me know and I can make it happen.

Thanks RJ we'll work something out between us and you're on subject to the final blessing from Mr Bill Howell... There will be some pretty serious hardware sitting all night and I'm sure we'll all sleep better knowing that there is a watchful eye in place ;-),,,,, especially one that is legally armed ;-)

Virtually every law enforcement agency can provide off duty officers at a price if you make arrangements well in advance. I would contact the local law enforcement agency and at least ask what is involved. The advantage is that you have a legal authority in attendance on site.
