thumper cam with manual trans
I'm buying a 502 this weekend and it has a mutha thumper cam. It dynoed at 575 hp. Rearend is a 4.11. It's going in a 67 camaro. Will the thumper cam make it difficult to drive with a manual trans? The guy I'm buying it from said I would definitely want an auto trans.

12-13-2010 #2Hello Russ,
I have a 68 RS/SS Camaro with a 350 small block that has a Comp Cams Thumper in it. I also have the Muncie M21 4 speed trans. It can be a little difficult to drive at first but after you get used to it, there should be no problem. The one trick that I found is to keep the rpm's up when starting out in first or it's likely to stall on you. I love mine and don't have any problem now that I'm used to it. An auto would be easier to live with but I love to bang through the gears and hear that engine roar!! Hope this helps.
