      LS engine cover

Has anyone tried using a new Camaro engine cove on a transplanted LS2?

Just curious if it would mount without a ton of fab work.
I'm looking at one on ebay and also getting a pair of GTO covers from my brother in law, to try.

Here's why I ask, the wiring harness is a Speartech reworked factory harness, and being the newbie at LS swaps I am, I didn't see the harness on the motor before it was unplugged, and taken to Speartech and in conversation with him it never came up as to the routing of the harness.

(NOT blaming them at all, like I said I'm new to this)

So 4 weeks past the reworked harness shows up, a week later I'm ready to plug it in and start wiring the car, and realize the lay out of the truck harness sucks!

It lays across the driver's side valve cover and runs over to the fender well.
The passenger side connections run across the top of the intake.

Ok for stock, looks terrible in swaps.

Problem is the more I look at it the more concerned I am that it will take a lot of reworking to get it to "lay good".

Gonna try again tomorrow to contact Speartech and get a cost/time idea to ship it back to them to work some magic.

Thing is, I on vacation from work till after the new year and was hoping to get a bunch done.
Not only that but so much for the budget build, LOL.

Here's a link to the ebay item,

Covering it up seems like a quick easy fix that I could live with.
      Any other ideas?

I think the only way to fix that problem is a car harness because i was going to go that route and he said since i had the car intake that it would look better to have a car harness built or get one to be reworked. Unless you go the caddy route with the cover for the truck.
What intake do you have on it?

LS2 intake from an '05 GTO.

Too late for a different harness.
If you've never had work done by Speartech, to me and my pocketbook... it's not cheap, but worth it.
Have to much money invested in this harness to change now.

That's what I'm hoping for, I am just a little curious if someone's done it. Partly because I have the front end off and "guessing" at the hood clearance, and I 'm starting to get a pile of parts I bought that didn't work out and now sitting in my garage.

I keep telling my wife "I'll know for the next build", yeah that doesn't go over very well. LOL

From what I have read, that new 5th gen Camaro cover will leave about 1/3 of the engine exposed in back.
Right before posting, I searched over at LS1Tech, and found this.

can't see it being bad to fit as it can only be a few brackets due to the motor being the same, i may go for one like this for my nova and cover the camaro logo somehow.

Quick update, I bought the cover from eBay, and man that guy shipped it super fast. It showed up today. And the GTO covers from my brother in law were bought to town last night.
So today I laid them both in place.
The camaro cover doesn't have a "camaro" logo anywhere. Atleast not this one. It says Chevrolet down both sides and V8 above the throttle body.
And the Camaro cover is only about "a half a coil" shorter then the GTO covers.
Keep in mind I just laid them on the motor close to the right position, the Camaro one, stops about the rear coil pack, and the GTO ones just barely completely cover all the coil packs.
Looks like either one is gonna take some trimming to work but look like they won't be too big of a pain.
The Caramo one does do a better job of hiding my ugly harness.
And as close as it is to the firewall shouldn't be overly obvious that is short.

I found that the drivers side GTO cover was poorly positioned. By carefully cutting the mounting bosses and using some epoxy to re-attach them, the positioning can be made much better.

As of now, it also looks like I either need to trim for the brake booster or go to a smaller one, because there is contact there.
To be honest I am really leaning towards the Camaro cover so I'm hesitant to trim either one 'till I decide for sure.
