      Negative offset?

I'm helping a friend out with his first gen Camaro. Are there any aftermarket disc brake kits that offer a negative offset compared to stock? If so, how much offset do they produce? He's looking for more tire clearance at the fender lip.

Fatman fab sells narrowed control arms.

      Or get new wheels.

How much narrower does your friend need? The standard KORE3 GM short-spindle (GMSS) kit narrows the front track width by .24" per side relative to the factory disc brakes which is also .20" wider than the OE drum brake setup on the Chevy applications, so it depends on what you're comparing it to. We've done a custom version of our GM short-spindle kit that was about 5/8" narrower per side relative to the typical kit by using a hub with less flange offset. It's important to note though that the spindle pin is still the same length, so the snout of the hub is longer by the same amount that the flange was pushed inward, so ~5/8". This can mean that the center caps on the wheels, if they have them, may not fit without a wheel spacer, thereby negating some, if not all, of the desired decrease in track width.

The static alignment settings, in particularly camber, can be used to gain some additional clearance as well.

The rear track width is set by the axles, so the only way to narrow the rear track width is to narrow the axle housing and assembly. Every aftermarket rear disc kit that I am aware of increases the rear track width by 1/16" to 1/4" per side depending on the rotors used.

Thanks, he already put DSE control arms on and I don't know how he spaced the camber shims. That might change things a skosh after alignment.
