In need of cheap forged wheels... help please

Now I know the words 'cheap' and 'forged' usually don't sit right next to each other in a sentence, but I have a dilemma.

I am looking for these sizes:
      2x 18" X 8"
      2x 18" X 12"

I just got a quote from DS&E for about $3100 for a set of wheels from Budnik.

      OUCH!

I was looking to spend about $2500-2700 for wheels AND tires. Is this just a pipe dream? I'm looking for a nice 5 spoke design... I liked Budnik's Fontana, Boze's Stinger, and Bonspeeds' Huntington and Intense Five models.

This may derail my entire mini-tub budget. Are there any cheap manufacturers out there? Or a vendor that can discount them?

      Thanks for your time,
      Max

I payed 2200 for my set of Billet speacialties they were 20x10's and 18x7's I think the 18x12 is where the cash is coming in to play any chance you could go with a 18x10 what size tire are you wanting to run?

      Max,

For 255s, 335s, and a set of 18x8 and 18x12, it's going to be nearly impossible to pull that off for $2500-2700. You're looking at around $1000-1100+ for tires alone (depending on brand). That leaves $1500 or so for wheels, and you're going to be hard pressed to find forged 18x12s for $375-400 each. Your best bet will be to look for a good deal on a set of used wheels. Or, check out some of the lesser known brands like Simmons, mentioned above. Who knows, maybe they'll give you a discount?

I am looking for the same thing and am sorry to report I have not found anything yet. Because I need custom backspacing the odds are definetly against me. Good luck though, tell me if you find anything. The sad thing, is when you want something custom you have to pay out the A$$ for it.

      Check CCW Out!

You can get 19x8.5 and 19x11 or 19x13 for $2495/set (or somewhere around there). Backspacing options are pretty good, and you can get tires mounted and balanced all in one. I went with CCW's (19x10 and 19x13) but bought my tires off of eBay, so the wheels were about $2650 and tires were another $600 (275/35/19's and 345/30/19's). Here's a link, check out "Wheel Profiles" to see the individual wheels:

I was just about to mention CCW also. They make a very nice wheel - especially for the money!!! They now are offering an 18" front wheel (18x8.5), so you could match that with a 19x12 rear and have a sweet set of forged wheels...

Lemme know if you decide to order from them, I haven't been able to find much feedback on their wheels.

      Compomotive/Motorsport Specialties?

Someone else on this board mentioned this company in another thread http://www.usacomp.com

I have had trouble getting in touch with them though.

Just talked to a bonspeed retailer who sells bonspeed wheels 25% below retail and is williing to give me a GP for even more of a discount. after doing the math it would get your order down to about 2,300 for the wheels if you went through the GP. let me know-Garrett

I went with Colorado Customs, 18 x 8 and 18 x 12 was around $1800 shipped. Try them at a car show. Better prices.

Centerline and Weld both make cheap forged wheels. Having toured the Weld factory, I can honestly say that they are a class act.

Get on ebay and type in Bonspeed. They have several nice sets for around $1500.

Man, you guys always find ways to surprise me. Thanks for all of the replies... I've been out of town for a week, so thats why I haven't responded yet... everyone had a pretty good solution to my needs. I'll look into the "other" brands, and send a couple PMs. Man, for you corner cravers, Sequoia National Park has a ton of switchbacks. Beautiful place.

      Thanks again for your help,
      Max

      Motorsports Specialties AKA Compomotive

I just wanted to give an update to my earlier post. I spoke with Allan yesterday and was quoted $1850 for 17x9.5 and 17x13 SJ modular wheels. That includes my choice of powder coating on the centers and optional polished fasteners if desired. Another thing he offered was that if after receiveing the wheels it turns out the fitment isn't right, they will correct it no charge!!

He said the hoops are T6061 heat treated to T6. The centers are cast though. It still seems like a good deal compared to the cost of other similarly sized wheels.
