More efficient/ upgrade for GM windows and locks

      Problem
Stock GM windows are very slow. Ford windows will cut your finger off. Same for the lock actuators.

      Goal
Looking for a more efficient/ powerful motor for power windows as with the power locks while retaining the stock regulators and lock assy.

      Background Info
      car is a 78 T/A
I have read about installing a relay in the window circuit. This is a possibility.

      GM #
      4907192 - window

      Solution
      Open to suggestions......

If your locks and windows are slow to act, have you considered there being a back connection or weak ground? I've had several 2nd gen trans ams, and don't recall the windows being super slow. They weren't as fast as some of todays cars, but you have to remember, those are some huge windows they are rolling up. You may want to check the switches. I had one fail on me where the window had slowed down considerably, and it turned out to be the switch was bad.

Also, you may want to look into the window regulators themselves if you haven't already. Broken, worn out, cooroded, unlubed parts can bind and cause drag issues. I might be inclinded to remove the regulator, smooth all of the surfaces, relube and make sure their aren't any tight spots as it actuates. Also, make sure your window felts are not too tight against the window. Or, that they are not bad. If the felts are wornout, it can create drag slowing the already heavy window even more.

but its kind of funny. Every pontiac I've ever owned has had slower windows than other cars. I've owned mainly GM cars, and my bonneville has pretty slow windows compared to my impala.

I second the above...I just finished cleaning and re lubing the window tracks in my GTO and got about a 200% improvement.

My 1971 Monte will take your head off they come up so quick. I have seen many GMs that have slow windows but it isn't a design flaw but worn out regulators, motors, and switches with glitches.
