sooo this guy would just not take no for an answer

so my friend kaliegh and i have just pulled into in n out burger in my 69 camaro. As were getting out this womnen walks up and asks me if im interested in selling because her husband loves old cars. I say no thanks, I love my car and have too much time and love in it to sell. She says allright and leaves.

As im walking up to the resturaunt i pass this super blinged out escalade, all lowered and 24 inch rims and crap. This guy starts hollering at me from the drivers seat of the escalade. Turns out to be the womans husband. He starts telling me that he wants to buy my car and hes got cash in hand. I tell him no thanks. He tells me not to be stupid, hes got 15K in cash hell give me right now for the car. I started to laugh and told him youd have to spend 15K for a piece of junk 69 camaro and that mines worth about three times that. He gets this WTF look on his face and says what makes some 40 year old car worth that much.
I tell him, suspension, 4 wheel discs, LT1 engine with 420HP and 6 speed tranny, 4.10 eaton posi....

He thinks about it for a minute and tells me its an old car and im lucky to get 15K for it. Dont be stupid! 15K cash right now.
And all im thinking is "i just freaking told u its worth and easy 40K and your still trying this"?
Needless to say i start to walk away as he continues to slogan "dont be stupid! 15K cash right now!!!!!"

....i have 42K invested in the car. And thats without labor as i did almost all the work myself. Who the hell thinks they can buy a suped up 69 camaro for 15K? please.

HAha, some people I tell ya... Ive had this happen to me a few times with my truck. They just dont get it when you tell them no! Then they get all pissed off when you wont do it.

I get it all the time too- and mine has paint! Since it's 'just' a 4-door wagon, apparently it's worthless. I'm not trying to sell it, so I don't care...but if they want it so bad, why can't they respect the effort that went into making it nice enough for them to want it at all?

On a related note, how many other people are just plain annoyed when somebody asks you "how much do you have in that thing"? Like it's any of their business? I usually respond with "I try not to think about it". If they persist, I tell them "well, you can build one yourself and find out". The way I was raised, you just don't ask questions like that. It's rude.

I agree. Makes my skin crawl when people ask members on this site what they have into their cars. You just don't ask someone a question like that.

Lol awesome response, my response is always "Enough" with a grin on my face.

P.S if they ask you to buy your car for some awful low price just offer them the engine, such as I want to buy your car for 15k. You should laugh smile and say I will sell you my engine for 15k, they should give up rather quickly.

camarokid....I had my car appraised this Summer by the top classic car appraiser in Michigan and he valued it at a little over twice that amount.

This is for a '68 Camaro ('68...not a '69 mind you) with an LS1, modest suspension and brake upgrades, automatic, 17" Billet Specialties wheels, no interior, no plumbing, no wiring, no glass, hasn't been started yet, hasn't been tuned yet...nothing.

So yes....that guy was drinking Liquid Plumber.

Bottom line is that the Camaro should have been worth more to the guy than his Escalade. He bought the Escalade for style and he wants the Camaro for more style, seems like he just needs to learn how to have some personal style other than IDIOT !!!!
