6L80 Question...ANYone using it?

I've been searching here and LS1 tech and cannot find anything conclusive. Lots of people throwing around figures, measurements, etc but I haven't seen anyone with an A-body say they have the 6L80 and what it took to use it...is there any ground clearance? Have they driven it? yada yada yada.

So...is there anyone here who has installed the 6L80 and what did you do? I realize trans tunnel surgery is required but do you still have clearance problems after the surgery? I also realize ride height is different with each car and that is why Im looking for someone who has done it to see what they have and how it compares to my car. I'm basically looking at the physical install. Not the electronics aspect of it as it will be matched with its original engine if I choose to go that route.

What about shifter? What are you using?
